I've just come back from New Orleans and Mississippi where I had the most amazing week! I did lots of tourist-y things on the first few days and then for Mechacon weekend I had a blast!

On Friday we had to wait in lines forever to get a ticket for someone who never even showed up, which made us miss a panel I wanted to attend. It wasn't such a big deal though as we were nearly first in line for the dealer's room, and Baby the Stars Shine Bright/ Alice and the Pirates had a booth. Figures that the only people in line yet were lolitas hehe! Oh!! And I met an amazing Asahi who has the exact same body type, hair and face as Asahi! and I would consider us friends now after how much we've spoken and stuff. I only regret not getting some contact info!! Aaaanyways, we were all in line for basically just the Alice/Baby booth. I managed to snatch up a really adorable ouji style salopette and matching kneesocks. Although the payment was held up and it took a few hours of sprinting through downtown New Orleans in heels to find enough wifi and service to call my bank and let them know nobody stole my card! Then we got caught in the rain and had to wait it out since we weren't getting our brand dresses wet and had no umbrella. By the time I finally got back to the booth to pay for my dress about 3 hours had passed. The relief I felt when I saw that they hadn't put my order back on the rack hit me like a truck. The ladies at the booth were beyond sweet and they helped me celebrate my stressful purchase hehe.  The only lolita event we attended was the swap meet where I got a cute bear ring for a dollar. Coincidentally the same dollar I was given by some guy in the Riverwalk Mall who wanted pictures with my friend and I. We spent the majority of our time traversing the mall than in the actual convention tbh.

Saturday was so full of Panels, and I had a ton of fun! Normally lines for any panel starts piling up hours before the panel even starts at NDK but at Mechacon, if it wasn't the main events or secondary events, you could basically just walk in. Sonny and I are huge fans of Malindachan's and she hosted the Wig Styling 101 which we went to and basically tripped all over ourselves getting pictures with her and Ex-Shadow. Sonny actually asked her to sign his Stardust Dragon YuGiOh! card, but I probably would've done the same. she's basically canon Yusei tbh. The next panel we attended was the NOLA Lolita Comm's Phantasmagoria J Fashion show which I've got to say I'm super impressed with it! It was equal parts fashion show and play, and wholly entertaining!

Because I'm a great friend, I managed to drag Jesse to the "Best Homestuck Panel Ever" with the help of Sonny so she could be immersed in the crowd of her favorite fandom. Although I wasn't impressed with the BHPE I did feel like the Homestuck Dating Game was executed fairly well. Which of course we tried our best to get her to go up on stage but as always Jesse refused to go anywhere near the "grey skinned heathens" in her words. Luckily for us though, the Baby the Stars Shine Bright fashion show was right after the Dating Game in the same room so once the Dating sim was over we were nearly first in line for the fashion show. We pretty much got front row seats (after allowing the Gold Pass people to get first pick bluhhh) and again I got to talk to Cody (Asahi) and his loli friends! After that we just dicked around the mall until the Kpop Dance panel started, and I finally got to use my 18+ ID for something ! The House Party/Masquerave wasn't quite as happening as others I've been to, and plus we were super tired from a short night of sleep and long day of events so we left the party earlier than most! (though not as early as the guy who broke his leg not more than 10 minutes after the doors opened, Yeesh!)

Due to our late night, yet again, we actually slept through Malindachan's Cosplay 101 panel and nearly missed check out!! We were able to clear out of the hotel in time to make it to her Advanced Cosplay panel. After the panel, we didn't stick around at the convention much longer. We basically hit up Artists Alley for last minute prints and then went back to Mississippi. I had an amazing weekend with amazing people! I really couldn't have asked for a better weekend :iconifreakinlovehimplz:
